01
How did you apply knowledge from your coursework to real-world scenarios?
The work from my Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) course helped me determine how to standardize the metrics with which I would compare language proficiency requirements in the data spreadsheet. My digital writing course gave me proficiency with online website-making tools, which is how this website was made.
02
What advice would you offer future interns?
Establish a plan and schedule early. Determine what you need to deliver by the end of the internship, how long you have to do it, and how much time per week you're prepared to dedicate to it, and then stick with it.
03
Which goals were met or unmet, and why?
My major goal of providing information about the current opportunities for students and stakeholders in Applied Linguistics was achieved. Still, in retrospect, I wish I had had additional time to dedicate to preparing an overview of possible future opportunities as well.
04
How did this internship deepen your understanding of your field?
This internship allowed me a chance to see the trajectory of my field going forward and my place in it. I feel more sure about my next academic and professional steps than I was before.
05
What's next for you professionally?
While I continue work on my academic goals, I hope to concurrently study other topics in my own time that will aid me in achieving my professional goals. Such topics include honing my skills in programming languages such as Python, C#, and C++, and expanding my current knowledge of the Japanese and German languages. I hope my future position(s) in the professional world will allow me to make the most out of all of my skills.
